What a fantastic place to stay with everything that you need. Treated to so much wildlife…deer in the morning as well as otters, the sea eagle swooping over and David fishing on the rocks, catching some nice size pollock and some small codling. Dolphins too. A lovely cafe, Nanny’s at Shieldaig and community cafe in Torridon. Lovely seafood bar in Kishorn and the Green Witch takeaway in Achintraid. A memorable week in such a special place.

Rhuroin has been the most tranquil setting to spend the week. It was the perfect location to explore the trails and mountains of Torridon. Climbing the Liathach and Beinn Alligin munro’s will stick in our memory for a long time! We were also lucky enough to have lots of wildlife encounters throughout the week - otters, dolphins, seals eagles and red squirrels! We felt right at home in the cottage and enjoyed mornings reading our books and soaking in the scenery. It was the perfect place to get engaged and we can’t wait to come back one day.

We’ve had a wonderful week up here in the Scottish Highlands. What a beautiful place to be, especially given the amazing weather that we’ve had.

Rhuroin has been the most peaceful, cosy and stunning place we’ve ever stayed. We’ve been totally relaxed while packing every day full with activities: cycling to Applecross for lunch, gravel riding the bogs, paddle boarding to Shieldaig fete, swimming (in westsuits), running and hiking Munros. We’ve had delicious food in the perfect at-home kitchen and at local restaurants. Gordon & Iona have an eye for creating peace and balance in a home and were generous helpful hosts. We’ve seen dolphins and seals and seal pups. We’d love to come back. This was a perfect Honeymoon destination but it’ll be a brilliant adventure holiday for years to come. Thank you!

Thank you for making a magic little house to hide out in for a few days. We love it very much. It’s so quiet and peaceful and every other word that means calm. We loved seeing the otter - even if it was a fleeting swim by. The sea eagles, in slow motion, were very majestic. We liked watching Mr & Mrs Goldfinch too.

We have had the most wonderful week staying at Rhuroin. Having followed The Net Store for some time, we looked at booking for this summer, craving a trip to the west coast. Instead we found Rhuroin - with only a photo of the exterior, we took a gamble which more than paid off. A truly beautiful place to stay, where we have been made to feel welcome and at home.
We have had some lovely days out - Applecross, Lochcarron and Gairloch - and have loved exploring more locally and relaxing in the house and grounds. We even managed three swims in the bay! We managed to spot the pine marten, otters, seals, sea eagles and the deer. Kishorn was a foodie highlight and we would recommend the fish van for local langoustines - enjoyed with a glass of wine in front of the house with the evening sun. Final highlight was an evening in Diabaig strolling along the harbour.
Thank you for a perfect trip.

We were so fortunate to find Rhuroin last minute when other plans fell through! What a place! The house is delightful and the location just perfect - views out of the windows constantly changing with the light and the weather. We especially appreciated how well-equipped the house is, including some kitchen essentials we hadn’t thought to bring which allowed us to make pancakes (we didn’t quite get round to baking bread …) It is very clear that a lot of thought and effort has been put into the house. We wanted for nothing.

Wow! What a wonderful, beautiful place for a quiet, relaxed holiday. Both the cottage and the views are magical. Being so close to so much wildlife and nature and being able to watch some gorgeous sunsets over the loch has been a real highlight. We’ve both massively appreciated the time to slow down, take stock and soak up the magic of this place and the mountains that surround it. The house has been so well stocked and all these careful, thoughtful touches have made our time here. Thank you so much!!! We’ll almost definitely be back

It has been amazing to return and stay in Rhuroin after having come with our children in the 80s. Iona and Gordon have beautifully updated the house but still maintained its peaceful charm. We have loved being back. This is a magical place which is very special. Thank you both for your warm welcome, the weather has been amazing.

A fabulous first stay at Rhuroin.
Iona & Gordon have created yet another exceptional place in the most wonderful setting. We genuinely cannot imagine a more restorative experience and sense of escapism than this! Also, being blessed with sublime weather we the icing on the cake. A truly memorable break and we hope to return for more of the same in the not too distant future.

An exceptional stay in the most beautiful cottage. The location is breathtaking! We loved the early morning otters!
The cottage is so homely and we appreciated all the thoughtful touches throughout. It is a perfect place to relax and we will certainly be back.
Thank you for all the friendly chats and local knowledge during our stay.

What a beautiful place to be! We loved the house and the views over the loch: the daily dolphin viewings (early morning & early evening), seeing the sea eagle and the otter and having company from the inquisitive seals when we swam.
Our favourite thing has been time to slow down when we went out: cycling along the peninsula and off road from Torridon around the peninsula, Applecross Walled Garden, Nanny’s in Shieldaig, kayaking on Loch Shieldaig, the walk along the peninsula from Diabaig, Cuaig beach at low tide, off road ride Applecross to Kenmore. Thanks for a lovely stay Iona, Gordon, Annie Ruby and for your hospitality!

Rhuroin is situated in one of the most beautiful corners of Scotland, with the Torridon mountains as a backdrop and Loch Shieldaig only a few metres from the house. Perched on the shoreline, I went for morning dips in the water, had afternoon tea inside by the fire and evenings in the garden. Lots of wildlife to look out for too - plenty of seals and sea birds - and peaceful towns nearby. The drive in is up there with one of the most beautiful in Scotland, especially via the iconic Bealach na Bà. It's a perfect trip for a family or a couple. Hosts Iona & Gordon are truly warming and lovely people. Highly recommend a visit.

This house has an incredible setting and is so tastefully furbished and is well equipped. The views, wildlife and peace are restorative. We really enjoyed exploring locally - walks, beaches and a few cafes. We definitely plan to return.
